Anchorage and its control in orthodontics
How can you remember these
In which tooth movement the affected PDL area is larger
For one type of tooth movement the optimum force should be kept as low as the possible. Please name that movement.

Anchorage:
The resistance to unwanted tooth movement.
The resistance to reaction force that is provided usually by other teeth, occasionally by the palate, sometimes by the head or neck (via extra-oral force), and more and more often by anchors screwed to jaws.
Relationship of tooth movement to force
An obvious strategy for anchorage control would be to concentrate the force needed to produce tooth movement where it is desired, and then to dissipate the reaction force over as many other teeth as possible, keeping the pressure in the PDL of anchor teeth as low as possible.
P=F/A
F= Force applied to tooth
A= The area of the PDL over which the force is distributed
